Cultural Connection Road Trips

Join our Cultural Connections Road Trips and discover Vancouver Island's vibrant communities, local cultural events and attractions.
Being connected, active, and engaged in the local environment is healthy. It can help with the cultural adjustment process for students who are new to Canada or new to the community. Every semester, we prepare a schedule of seasonal weekly Saturday activities available to registered VIU students.

Culture Couch

The Culture Couch Series is a place to engage in cross-cultural understanding. The symbol of a couch reflects the casual and comfortable nature that we come together within this student-led weekly series.

The evening often consists of sampling traditional foods, sharing music, and engaging in conversation. By attending, we can gain more understanding about the world and about each other, directly from the lens of our diverse community of Vancouver Island University students.

Cultural Connections, Road Trips and Hikes: Sign-up's, Tuesdays and Thursday from 12pm-1:30pm in building 255 (International Education). In front of the lobby on the second floor.

Cultural Connections, Cultural Couch: No sign-up required! Everyone is welcome. Tuesdays from 5PM- 6PM on the lower floor of building 255 (International Education)

The Office of Graduate Studies is the administrative home for graduate education at VIU. Success in graduate education depends on strong and collaborative partnerships with the academic programs that deliver the curriculum and supervision as well as other administrative units that support health and wellbeing, professional development opportunities, research ethics approvals, and funding.

VIU’s Malaspina Theatre, Theatre Lobby and Mike Taugher Studio are ‘living classrooms’; unique facilities where students learn, develop skills, and gain valuable hands-on experience with a variety of acting and technical experiences ranging from Event production, Podcasting, to Mainstage Performances. The Malaspina Theatre also welcomes a variety of touring productions that rent the facility throughout the year.
